There are perhaps 20 gay saunas in Rio at any given time; most are busiest 6-10pm, and close by midnight. None requires membership. Beaches and Parks

The cruisiest part of Ipanema beach across Ave. Vieira Souto at the end of Rua Farme de Amoedo. It's also the trendiest hangout in town.

There is also a large park near this area, between Porcao restaurant and the monument at the end of the part by Botafago. Watch out for the guys on the parallel bars. They may be working out... but they are also checking out the talent as it walks by.

In Copacabana beach, just above the Copacabana Palace hotel the area know as "Stock Market/ bolsa de Copacabana" is very popular throughout the day. The area around Avenida Atlantica in Copacabana is also cruisy.

Avenida Rio Branco in Cinelandia is popular with rent boys, who usually sit with hard-ons on the benches, or on the edge of the streets' central reservations. The area is both popular with rent boys and the local gay guys. Friday, after work is popular. Guys gather at "Amarelinho" or "Verdinho" bars and watch the crowds go by.

Parca Fliriano is also a popular area for hooking up with local gay guys. There are many small hotels in this area called "Somente Cavalheiros", which means "Men Only". You will have no problem bringing someone here with you whenever you want.

Nudist Beach in Rio

Recreio Beach is a popular beache from nude sun bathing. It is very discreet, but the eara in the woods, behind the highway is full of action. Located several km outside the city, renting a car is your best option, however the 553 bus also goes by here.

Directions: Head past Barra de Tijuca and keep going to Recreio, before Grumari Beach until the view of the beach is obstructed by the tall grass. Park on the right side of the highway and go over the wire fence to get to the beach.
